You have access to a variety of resources and services within the school, the College of Agriculture, Life and Environmental Sciences (CALES) and the campus community. Whether you are looking for graduate funding, counseling, faculty mentoring, research opportunities, or general graduate student support, the University of Arizona has an extensive network of resources and services to help you achieve your academic and career goals.

Academic support & career development

Graduate students work closely with School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences faculty. From advising to mentoring and research, you have a network of faculty to prepare you for a Ph.D. program or the next step in your career.

For those who have accessibility needs, services are available through the Disability Resource Center. They are available to help you with individual accommodations or modification to support your success in your graduate program.

The Graduate and Professional Student Council is also a fantastic resource for graduate students.

Health & Wellbeing

Balancing your personal life, family, a job, and graduate school can be stressful at times. We’re here to support you on your journey. Campus Health, CALES Life Management Counseling and other resources are available to help you stay healthy and strong while earning your graduate degree.

Financial support

Funding is often near the top of graduate students’ list of needs. Students can get funding in a variety of ways, from research assistantships to stipends to fellowships, and more.

Generally, Ph.D. and thesis-M.S. students making satisfactory progress are offered research assistantships from the major advisor or teaching assistantships from the school. Connect with your graduate coordinator to learn more.

A variety of awards are available through the University of Arizona Graduate College.

Graduate College Funding

Graduate degree students are encouraged to seek funding through sources such as the National Science Foundation, Fulbright grants, host country sponsorships, and College of Agriculture, Life & Environmental Science awards.

Scientific societies often offer small grants aimed at enhancing a research project, and several small grants are available through Scholarship Universe.

Many scholarships and other funding opportunities require completion of the FAFSA.
