OVERVIEW
This year SaferFoodCats2 is a 2-week virtual program that runs in the afternoons on weekdays from July 6-16 with a culmination ceremony on Saturday, July 17, 2021. SaferFoodCats2 is for Freshman & Transfer students interested in digging into the science of what keeps our food safe.
The SaferFoodCats2 virtual program welcomes applications from all students, however due to their under representation in STEM fields, students who are of ethnic minority backgrounds (Hispanic, Native American, African American), are first-generation college, or are economically disadvantaged are especially encouraged to apply.
As a participant in SaferFoodCats2 summer program you will:
- Learn about cutting-edge techniques used in real-world food safety labs
- Design an innovative team Food Safety project
- Virtually tour Food Safety research laboratories
- Listen and interact with Food Safety professionals and researchers
APPLICATION CHECKLIST
- Enrolled at University of Arizona or a Transfer College
- Completed application form, DUE DATE EXTENDED TO June 18, 2021!
- Essay – 250 word minimum and 500 word maximum
- One letter of recommendation from a teacher/professor, school counselor, or school administrator
- Applications to be submitted by email
