The 2022 UArizona Food Safety Conference, hosted by the Food Safety Consortium (FSC), provided attendees an exciting hybrid conference experience with virtual presentations and in-person networking and poster sessions.

Dr. Angelo Telatin, an internationally known horse trainer, competitor, and an Associate Professor at Delaware Valley University, brought his knowledge and experience in “Speaking the Horse’s Language” to horsemanship workshops for San Carlos Apache, Navajo, and Hopi tribal members this past June.

UArizona alumnae, Kami Weddle, is the director of food safety and quality at Rousseau Farming Company in Phoenix. She credits her degree in Microbiology and time spent in the College of Agriculture, Life and Environmental Sciences as providing her with the necessary tools to lead her on to this career path.

ACBS 160, the introductory class on “Human and Animal Interrelationships”, brings animals to campus through their “Animal Encounters” activity to facilitate interactions between students and live animals including goats, chickens, miniature horses, and rabbits.

The hard work of ACBS Faculty has been recognized in recent grant funding, including a $2,398,682 grant from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases with Principal Investigator Sean Limesand.

Students gain a basic background in range cattle reproduction management, as well as hands-on experiences, working with cattle in Calving Management Course.

ACBS students pursuing an Animal Science degree with an equine emphasis will have noticed a transition beginning in January 2022. Learn more about this exciting opportunity to offer an even stronger equine program to the benefit of our students.

Students in the ACBS Vet Sci Applied Animal Behavior Emphasis - Companion Animal began their Spring semester with thre field trips to vist community partners which included the Bureau of Land Management Wild Horse and Burro Program, 4Ropin Ranch, and Equine Voices Rescue and Sanctuary.

Koenraad Van Doorslaer was awarded the 2022 Excellence in Postdoctoral Mentoring Award. This award is presented by the UArizona Postdoctoral Affairs and recognizes a faculty member who provides exceptional mentoring to postdoctoral scholars.
