Schedule appointment

We recommend you meet your major advisor at least once a semester to make sure you’re taking the correct courses for your graduation timeline. Schedule appointments with your major advisor online through CatCloud.

How to make the most of your advising meeting

  1. Determine the right meeting type
    1. Drop-ins (5-10 minutes) for general course planning, information & policies, campus resource referrals, or forms.
    2. 20 to 30-minute meetings for graduation planning, study abroad planning, academic success strategies, and exploring majors, minors, graduate school or careers.
  2. Schedule your appointment or view drop-in hours in CatCloud. Please cancel appointments you cannot attend 24 hours in advance.
    1. Academic Advisors will update their availability every Thursday and have availability listed for at least 2 weeks.
    2.  Please keep in mind the peak time for advising
      1. Start of the Semester (Mid to End of August and Mid to End of Jan)
      2. Priority Registration (Mid-October to End of November and Mid-March to End of April)
  3. Prepare for your meeting:
    1. Review your academic advisement report, degree checklist, dates and deadlines
    2. Write down your questions and bring advising materials from previous meetings.
  4. Make sure to arrive on time, turn off or silence your phone, be open with your advisor about academic and personal assistance you may need, and ask questions!
  5. After your meeting, complete the advisor's recommended follow-up steps. Keep a folder with information from all advising meetings, seek out the discussed resources, and connect with your advisor if you have more questions.
